WHO WE ARE
The Junior Woman's Club of Sparta (JWCS) is a non-profit, civic organization for women committed to promoting volunteerism, improving our community and fostering new friendships. The JWCS was formed in 1966 and is part of The New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs of GFWC-Junior Membership.
Currently the Junior Woman's Club of Sparta is made of more than 31 energetic, dynamic women who are dedicated to making a difference. These women work on various projects and fundraisers throughout the year with the goal of contributing to the community in a significant way. The JWCS also has many social activities including movie nights, book clubs, Halloween parties for the kids and more. Some of our favorite projects this past year were the 5 th Grade Spelling Bee; Wish Tree; Make a Difference Day and Tie-A-Ribbon Campaign.
During 2010-2011 the JWCS donated over $49,000 to local, national and international charities. Other local donations were made to the Sparta Library, Sparta DARE Program, Sparta Ambulance, Sparta Parks and Recreation, Sparta Volunteer Fire Department and College Scholarships to local young women. Other organizations that were supported throughout the county include: Birth Haven, DASI, Samaritan Inn, SCARC, Sussex County YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and the Sussex County Red Cross.
